Note

The first two volumes of Prowett's collection of engravings of Canova's plastic works were published in 1824, and a third, supplementary volume was issued in 1828; it is uncommon to find complete, three-volume sets of the large-paper issue at auction, particularly in a contemporary morocco binding. This edition was issued in three formats: octavo at lb6. 6s; large-paper quarto (as here) at lb9. 9s; and 50 india-paper copies at lb16. 16s (cf. Brunet and Lowndes, both calling for one portrait and one plate less than here).
