Note A fine copy, attractively bound, of this edition including for the first time 'Selected Passages from the Correspondence with Friends'. Second edition prepared by Gogol's heirs supplemented with works from author's manuscripts in good condition. The first edition of complete works was prepared by Gogol himself in 1842. Afterwards all the publications were prepared by his heirs. Present edition is peculiar due to the first publication of '' which were banned by censors previously in 1847. Four volumes include Village Evenings Near Dikanka, Mirgorod, Arabeski, theatre plays, short stories, Selected Passages from Correspondence with Friends, The Dead Souls. Vol.4 includes Gogol's portrait and Chizhov's facsimile signature as a proof of originality. |
