Folio (34 x 264 cm). 2 title-pages with handcoloured vignettes, 44 hand-coloured lithographed plates, some occasional foxing throughout, all captioned, bound in contemporary green morocco backed boards, hinges cracked; overall a good copy.

Note

This unusual volume contains a fine set of handcoloured plates on both Parisian and London life. The illustrator Monnier spent two years in London from 1825-27 and when he returned to Paris he embarked on a series of albums in which he recorded the manners and life of both cities.
