[12] pp. incl. title and last blank, 11 colour plates with printed tissue guards, signature of Stryjenska in the plates, dated 1927; occasional light soiling, guards with light creases. Loose as issued in original publisher's blue cloth portfolio, gilt decoration and device to upper cover; slightly rubbed.


Note

Fine copy of Stryjenska's famous series of colourful dance lithographs including peasants, nobility, Jews etc., each with the original tissue guard printed with lines of music for each type of dance. Known as the Polish Princess of Art, she was born in 1891. In 1911 disguised a man, she studied art at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich for one year until her true identity was discovered and she was sent back to Krakow. Foreword by Arthur Schroeder.
