Note The story of the first ascent of K2 by an Italian expedition in 1954 led by the author. This copy has been signed by Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni who with the author were both members of the expedition.It was in fact Compagnoni and Lacedelli who on 31 July 1954 became the first men to reach the 8,611m summit. |
