MD who loves the Himalayas, this souvenir from my adventures, sincerely yours, Maurice Herzog, Barcelona, 6th of August,'92" written on half title, bookplate, 8 maps and panoramas including the large folding panorama at rear, numerous black and white illustrations, scattered spotting throughout, publisher's light blue cloth, spine slightly faded, original pictorial dust wrapper, spine frayed at top and bottom, overall a very good copy. Provenance: bookplate of John D. Cantwell.

This ascent by the French expedition was a major feat in climbing the Himalayas as they became the first to climb a peak over 8000 metres A remarkable achievement.This book also includes an introduction by Eric Shipton. Inscribed copies are scarce.
