Note The author was the eldest son of William IV by Mrs. Jordan. In addition to an account of his journey from India to England in 1817-18 while carrying despatches, Fitzclarence discusses his experiences in India together with the political and military operations of the East India Company. In the long section on Egypt he describes at length his contacts with Salt and Belzoni and gives an interesting account of his visits to the Pyramids with them. The plates, illustrating Egyptian and Indian subjects, are after drawings by the author, engraved by R. Havell. |
