Description

12mo (14 x 8.1 cm). 347 incl. title with woodcut device, [7], 469, [9], 166, [32] pp. with woodcut headpiece and initial, and a full-page woodcut illustration on p.157 of the fifth part; some light mainly marginal staining. Contemporary calf, double blind rule to covers and to flat spine; skillful repairs to extremities and joints. Provenance: old illegible signature on front pastedown (?J. ?Shiletto).

Note

Very good copy of this lovely and uncommon production, with the woodcut bottle incorporating a typographic ode to its virtues. A few editions were published under the 'Jean Martin' imprint, by himself or not, at the turn of the 16th century. Typically, they all have the same pagination but title pages vary, and the present edition is characterized by the absence of date. It could be the production of a Rouen press.
