Note Scarce in original cloth. A major source for both the early exploration of the far north and ethnology. The book contains full details of his commerce with the Cree, Chippewa, and Coppermine Indians and is a fundamental source of information about Indian life along the route of the expedition. This private expedition was undertaken to search for the second Ross expedition. Back and his party went from Montreal to Great Slave Lake, then overland to the Arctic Ocean. The narrative also contains valuable information concerning Arctic flora and fauna. |
