Description

Two suites of erotic watercolours, the first consisting of 9 numbered watercolours captioned in French and German, the second being 6 unnumbered watercolours captioned in German, both suites within gilt borders, image size 16 x 11.5cm., all pictures with overlays which lift to reveal erotic details, each image in a passe partout, well preserved in modern red morocco-backed clamshell box, morocco lettering piece to upper cover.

Note

The fragility of the overslips makes the present collection a rare surviving example of this style of erotica. Seemingly innocent conversation-piece watercolours change into something entirley different when the overslip is lifted to reveal ...all! The captions which accompany the watercolours make for great humour. A delightful item.
