Third edition, revised. 2 volumes, 8vo. Illustrated with 2 hand-coloured frontispieces, 1 folding map, 2 lithograph plates, illustrations in the text. Contemporary Eton binding of blue polished calf gilt, covers with wide gilt borders, spines richly gilt in compartments, tan morocco lettering pieces.

Note

A fine, decorative set of Spencer's first work on the area. He went to Turkey in 1836; it is not clear how long he stayed but according to his own account he travelled extensively in the Caucasus, along the shores of the Black Sea and in Asia Minor.
