First edition. 2 vols, 8vo, xii, vi. 556-1064pp, lacks adverts, two folding maps, errata leaf, previous owner's inscription on title-page, new endpapers with original endpapers pasted down on top, bound in recent red cloth, spines gilt lettered; a very good solid copy.

Note

This is the first of three editions written by Richard Ford. He went to live in Spain because of his wife's health. For 3 years he wintered in Seville and lived in the Alhambra in the summer(1830-3). He immersed himself in the Spanish way of life. This title is considered by many to be a " Murray Classic " and essential reading for anyone interested in the country. "May to November , 1846" printed on endpapers.
