The account of an expedition undertaken in March 1878 by the Archduke, to investigate the possibility of a coastal railway in southern Palestine. This was eventually discounted, the preferred option being an expansion of the harbour at Beirut, and the establishment of a rail link from there to Damascus.

First English edition. 8vo, xiv, 68 pp., 23 wood-engraved plates after drawings by the author, light foxing to title and occasionally elsewhere, original pictorial green cloth gilt, lightly rubbed a very good copy.
