Ch. Vellot, Grenoble, 1846 and 1854. Landscape 8vo. With 2 maps and 17 lithographed plates; occasional light spotting. Contemporary green calf polished, gilt panels to covers, gilt lettering 'Grenoble' to upper cover, spine gilt in compartments, endpapers dated 1856; slightly rubbed.
Lovely work on the French Alps, profusely illustrated by full-page lithographs showing dramatic views and romantic residences. The endpapers interestingly celebrate the peace after the Crimean War: 'La Paix 30 Mars 1856' is written on one, the other illustrating the 'Congres de Paris' with the coat of arms of the participating countries.
