S & J Fuller, London 1815. First edition. Landscape folio (39 x 29 cm), 7 hand-coloured engraved plates by Alken, descriptive engraved frontispiece, later red half morocco gilt, original brown printed wrappers bound in, a fine copy.

The first of Alken's coloured books, illustrated with a highly detailed and amusing series of hunting plates. It illustrates the potential hazards awaiting the inexperienced rider on the fox-hunting field. The plates are of a very high quality and amply demonstrate the author's knowledge of horses as well as his love of sporting life. Schwerdt I, p20; Siltzer p69; Tooley 44.
