Faber and Faber Limited, London, 1932. Signed edition. 8vo. LIMITED to 115 copies printed on English hand-made paper, SIGNED and numbered by author on colophon page. Top edge gilt. Publisher's blue vellum boards, as usual spine faded to its original vellum colour, top edge also slightly faded, corners a little bumped, contemporary ownership inscription on front free endpaper, lacking the cellophane dust jacket, otherwise a nice copy in a custom-made slipcase.
A note in Donald Gallup's Bibliography concerning incorrect dating of some essays states that Eliot had "dated the essays entirely by guess-work when [he] prepared the volume in 1932, and never bothered to look up the exact dates of first periodical publication." The correct dates were finally given in the third English edition. Gallup A21b; Connolly 72.
