ARMS OF JAMAICAN FAMILY.

18th Century Bookbinding with heavy bronze book furniture.

[West Indies or New Mexico, c. 1780.]. 4to (240 x 165 mm), (sides only no contents), diced russia book covers, some slight cracking, with heavy bronze borders with bosses, surrounding central arms, a seated lion in bronze encircled in bronze, the figure of the animal repeated in each corner, this the crest of the Walrond family of Jamaica, marbled endpapers of the late 18th century attached. 1780

The heaviness of the binding and its decorations would indicate Hispanic influence, perhaps the West Indies, where the owner lived, or possibly New Mexico.
