An early Soviet luxury publication of the traditional Russian tale, richly illustrated by one of the founders of the celebrated Palekh school of painting. Golikov's works are kept in all significant Russian museums, including the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. The present copy is a deluxe version of the publication, also issued in a more modest edition: a desirable copy of an original publication.
