Very good copy of the first edition. Atkinson had received approval from Nicholas I to travel through and describe the Asiatic domains of the Russian Empire. The first account of his journey was published in 1858 in "Oriental and Western Siberia: A narrative of seven years exploration ..." The present work is a continuation of his observations while travelling in the eastern portions of the Russian Empire, focusing on the natural history and ethnography of the region. Czech, Asian, 15.
