VERY RARE, INTERESTING SMALL TECHNICAL WORK IN FINE ORIGINAL CONDITION, describing both the copyright obtained by Baird and his invention. Born in Scottland, Berd (Baird; 1766-1843) arrived at Petrozavodsk at the age of 20. He developed strong entrepreneurial talent in Petrozavodsk and St. Petersburg, where, by 1802, he owned one of the largest machine and iron factories. He took part in the first building projects involving iron structures of the imperial city, including bridges and the first Russian steam boat 'Elizabeth'.
