DEPOT GENERAL DE LA GUERRE.
Carte de la Russie Europeenne, traduite et gravee par ordre du gouvernement en 1812, 1813 et 1814, d'apres la carte russe en 104 feuilles.
Depot de la Guerre, Paris, 1814. Large folio (65.5 x 50 cm). Engraved double-page overview map, double-page title engraved by A. Pelicier, and 77 double-page engraved maps forming one wall-map; light occasional spotting. Contemporary red half-morocco over marbled boards, flat spine richly gilt.
Fine copy of this enormous wall-map, bound in sheets in original condition. The 'tableau d'assemblage en 77 feuilles' at the beginning is dated 'Paris, 1812': interestingly the present map has been begun during the French campaign to Moscow, but finished and published only two years later, at the dawn of Napoleon's reign. It covers the entire Western Russia, including Bielorussia, the Baltic regions and Ukraine.
