First edition. 2 volumes, 8vo., viii, 447; viii, 588pp., 2 portrait frontispieces, numerous wood-engraved plates, 2 maps (1 large folding, laid down on linen), very occaisional short tears to edges of pages repaired, contemporary green half calf over marbled boards gilt, red morocco lettering pieces to spines, marbled edges and endpapers, corners lightly bumped, spines faded, still a good set.

Baker was given supreme power by the Khedive to rout the Slave Trade. While most of the narrative involves travel and military adventure, there are several episodes of sport as well. Blackmer 66; Hilmy I, 49 (later edition); Czech p11.
