Leroux, Paris 1902. First edition. 8vo., iv, 157pp, frontispiece, folding map, illustrations in text, original wrappers lettered in black and bistre, light foxing, an excellent copy.
De Morgan (1857-1924), archaeologist-geologist, is credited with being the first personto have become aware of the vast oil deposits in southwest Persia. He also acquired a dubious reputation as a result of his archaeological excavations for shipping to the Louvre huge quantities of art objects. The present scarce work is an account of his excavations at Susa.
