An account of the founding and progress of the Scottish African and Indian Company, the preparations for planting a Scottish colony in Darien, and the arrival of the settlers at New St. Andrews. This is followed by a short description of Darien, and chapters on the reception of the Scots by the indigenous population, their manners, customs, and methods of hunting.
