James Virtue, London n.d. circa 1855. 4to, containing engraved portrait frontispiece Pardoe, additional engraved title page, engraved map and 85 plates, small stain to gutter of title-page and frontispiece, occasional light spotting but generally very clean, publisher's dark morocco gilt, all edges gilt, joints rubbed and with short splits.

One of the most popular and attractive of all books on the Bosphorus. This work was obviously planned to take advantage of the great success which 'The City of the Sultan' had achieved. This present edition is enlarged from the 1838 edition with an appendix on the Crimean War and 6 extra plates. Atabey 922; Blackmer 1254.
