Rosellini, father of Italian Egyptology studied Hebrew & Arabic languages at Pisa University, becoming Professor of Oriental Languages at 24 years. It was then he learned of French Egyptologist Cham[pollion and his deciphering of Hieroglyphics. Rossellini's great work on Egyptology was Italy's most important contribution to this field.
