Returning with Holdsworth from the ascent of Kamet in 1931, they descended into the Byundar valley and camped for two days in a flowery paradise; it was the most beautiful valley that any of them had seen. In 1937 Smythe revisited the Upper Garhwal, Byundar valley, and Banke glacier and made the first ascent of Mana Peak. (Yakushi). Neate S133; Yakushi S290.
