A very good copy of the first edition. Douglas William Freshfield (1845 - 1934) was a British lawyer. He was a mountaineer and author and edited the Alpine Journal from 1872 to 1880. Freshfield led an exploration of the Caucasus and was the first man, officially, to conquer Kazbek with guides from the village Gergeti.
