Profusely illustrated throughout, including coloured maps and black & white plates and vignettes; some light foxing but plates generally very clean. Original red morocco-backed cloth by Ch. Magnier, covers and spines with rich pictorial gilt designs, all edges gilt, a fine set.
Excellent set of 19 volumes, richly illustrated and superbly bound, covering the entire world, including Europe, Asia and the Americas. 'Asie Russe' and 'Europe Scandinave et Russe' are two volumes of this complete series. Reclus (1830-1905) was a renowned French geographer, writer and anarchist. He produced his masterwork over a period of nearly 20 years: from 1875 to 1894.
