Erskine sailed from Russell, New Zealand, in 1849, and reached Nieu or Savage Island. He visited Manua, Tutuila, and Upolu of the Samoan Islands, Vava'u, Lifuka, and Tongatabu, then Fiji, the New Hebrides, New Caledonia, and Port Jackson. Abbey Travel 602; Hill 568.
